T O P I C R E V I E WaquarianflakeHi,Here are my birth details-February 13 1985 00:13 amMumbai,IndiaI am a doctor interested in research particularly the neural basis of instinct, biorhythms, sleep/memory consolidation and evolutionary biology. My astrologer told me that I shouldn't pursue research as he doesn't see anything coming of it and that I should solely go into clinical practice. How come I've wanted to do research ever since I could think?/???How can I not pursue it when that is the only way I can imagine finding fulfillment and making peace with myself- creating something intellectually !And he also said my aspects are horrible.I looked these up; I don't know much about astrology but they seem pretty awful..Can anybody with experience please authoritatively tell me what's could be going on here??Got Gemini?I wish I could tell you the answer but I can't. I will tell you this though, astrology is NOT fatalistic. I know in India they use Vedic astrology a lot which I think is fatalistic. I personally do not like Vedic astrology as I can't relate to any of my Vedic signs.I say go with your heart and gut. If you want to do research, then that is what you should do! Do not let one astrologer dictate to you which path you should take in life.------------------Virgo Asc 6˚& Mars 0˚Gemini Sun 24˚Libra Moon 14˚(conjunct Pluto 0˚ in 2nd house)Gemini Mercury 25˚Cancer Venus 29˚And yes, i'm a guy!venusmarsHow can someone tell you, especially a professional astrologer, that your aspects are horrible???nonsense and no such thing in astrology..Did you pay for that???aquarianflakeYes, haha.i did actually pay for that interpretationhe said my aspects would always be troublesome and everything would be difficult in life-didn't sound right- couldn't be me. somethings Got Gemini i tend to agree with you..The reason I asked was because research was always being deferred. Each time i try to get into it something always shoves me into the clinical sciences..so i thought the universemay have been hinting and i wasn't getting it or that i should do it later in life..but this guy just ruled it outIs it possible that i will be wasting my time and my energies are better directed elsewhere ? why does he think that?can you guys see anything that indicates otherwise? pisces in fifth? capricorn in third? how do you interpret in differently? Thanks for all the light my fellow seekers !annafAs a scientificially thinking person you should stay clear of vedic astrology. I'm sure it has its place, but from my own experience I can only say that its dogmatic/fatalistic approach can be very dangerous. I had a vedic reading about 9 years ago, when I was confused about my professional life, had no idea which direction to go etc. etc. Through my exboyfriend at the time who was Indian I had gotten into vedic astrology, found it fascinating, so I hoped a reading would give me some answers. Let me just say that it was a very reputable vedic astrologer who had even published books. It was very expensive, but I saw it as an investment in my future. What can i say, I was depressed for weeks after that reading. It was the determination of his statement, this-is-how-it-is-so-you-better-accept-it which made me quite desperate. There were a lot of things he said which were depressing, but most dpressing were his predictions that my career would be always a problem until I was 35 and that I would only find one at that age! I was 25 back then!! Can you imagine how I felt? Desperate to find my calling in life and this guy is telling me, well sorry, but it's gonna take you anothe ten years. It took me weeks and months to get over this reading, ignore it and just get on with my life. In retrospect, I can assure you that 95% of his predictions were ALL wrong! Abeout a year after his reading, my career really took off and which lead me into my current career which I have been in for about 5 years now and I'm very succesful at it. So please ignore this astrologer. I dont want to put down vedic astrology, I'm sure it can offer some guidance to some people. But the whole dogma is just so so dangerous. I think a good western astrologer will always make sure that the client understands that a birth chart is only about POTENTIAL and it is up to the individual to make the best with it. I think it is really amazing that you are so into research, that kind of passion is the best foundation anyone can have for a career. And looking at your chart I dont see why this guy tells you it isnt right for you! Your MC ruler is the sun in aquarius and it is conjunct mercury, so innovative intellectual work is right for you. Also your moon is in scorpio and its ruler pluto is in the 12th.....so the 12th house is about the hidden and secrets, ideal for research, you are obsessed with unravelling secrets. Also your moon is conjunct saturn which gives you stamina and determination and a certain detachment. I have seen saturn in many charts of scientists. Also your MC ruler makes some nice asepcts. Why he puts down resarch so much?? I have no idea other than it is some cultural thing. When my exboyfriend (the Indian guy)first decided to do his phd and follow his dream to become a research scientist, his entire family and Indian acquaintances called him nuts and tried to convince him to continue with a career in business. So I think this vedic astrologer may have given you a reading which was less based on your natal chart and more on what he thought was the more lucrative career. Just my two cents. And please, please, please dont take his reading to heart, been there done that and it was such a waste of time and tears!aquarianflakeThanks annaf! that was super )) yeah , maybe it is some cultural thing..i dunno.btw your indian ex-bf -is he doing well at his research now??(i love this forum- the only place where sense is spoken abt astrology.linda like sense)Blessings be to you all fellow seekers!aquarianflakeThanks annaf! that was super )) yeah , maybe it is some cultural thing..i dunno.btw your indian ex-bf -is he doing well at his research now??(i love this forum- the only place where sense is spoken abt astrology.linda like sense)Blessings be to you all fellow seekers!mbloverYour answers lie within your questions. You already know that the advice is BS.LadyNeptunenmannafYes, he is doing very well, he's an assistant professor now and never regretted his decision to give up that career in business. The trouble was never HIS job satisfaction, but convincing his environment that it was the right decision. If you feel such a passion for something, that feeling cant ever be wrong!! So again, coming back to what I said earlier...follow your gut feeling and ignore that stupid reading...seriously amowlsThat's Vedic Astrology, for you. Everything in your natal chart is the be all and end all when it comes to you.Which is why it's best to only use Vedic Astrology for predictions, not for psychology.amowlsAlso, he probably said you should stick to clinical sciences because in your Vedic Chart your MC is in Cancer, and your Sun and Mercury are in the 4th. I'm surprised he just didn't say you should just stay home lol.But even this does support a career in research considering your Moon is still in Scorpio conjunct Saturn. As for your "bad aspects," don't worry about them. Hard aspects in a natal chart spur the person on to do better in life. aquarianflakeThanks again annaf and you too amowls. It's nice to know that there's some astrological backing ^All good things^
